How the funds have been used
At the end of 2025, a partnership agreement was met between Advent Health Foundation and Melissa Vosburg, Inc. All currently held funds, plus future donations to reach $1,000,000 will fund a “Melissa Vosburg Endowed Chair.” This will achieve many things – advancing research locally and globally, and allowing Melissa’s name to live on as a source of inspiration and hope to many. We are not simply funding today’s research. We are helping build tomorrow’s research capability. Our vision is to leave behind something enduring: a permanent source of leadership, innovation, and hope for families affected by brain cancer. Melissa Vosburg Inc. aggregated the 2016 & 2017 funds and donated them to the Florida Hospital (now Advent Health) Foundation. These funds were used to fund a Clinical Trial Navigator position in conjunction with this Florida Hospital Cancer Institute Glioblastoma (GBM) study. This Clinical Trial Navigator position ensured that patients could find and be entered into this study. Without the position, many who could have been part of this study may not have found it. We believe that not only is the research critical, but that getting the patients into the appropriate studies is part of the fight to find the cure.
This study was selected because of its focus on GBM and newly diagnosed patients. Far too many clinical trials of brain cancer are for re-occurrence of cancer, an opportunity Melissa did not have. We are very hopeful that this research will make a difference to those like Melissa who are newly diagnosed with the most aggressive and common type of brain cancer.
